Coast to Coast 2019

Welcome to Central Spokes’ 2019 Coast to Coast Fund Raising Ride! Adhering to the club’s tradition of helping vulnerable youth, we are raising much-needed funds for the medical expenses of 6-year old Kortnaé Ferdinand the granddaughter of one of our club members. Kortnaé was diagnosed at 5 months old with Sickle Cell Disease, which has led to a plethora of other medical issues. After a recent stroke, she was paralysed on the right side of her body with a speech impairment. In order to combat these medical issues, the 6 year old has been receiving blood transfusions, speech therapy and physiotherapy, In recent years, a breakthrough bone marrow transplant procedure is changing the course of the sickle cell narrative for many patients.  As Kortnaé’s health progresses, in the next six months she will have to continue chronic blood transfusions at the hospital until she is stable enough to be flown to either the US or Canada for the bone marrow transplant.

Come join us on the journey to help this young girl as we begin at the incredible view at Temple in the Sea and trace a scenic route across the belly of Trinidad. We take a route through public roads that are quiet on Sundays. Take in the view of the rice fields as we ride through the Caroni plains and pass by the well-known San Raphael Church. Be prepared to navigate through lush green terrain in Cumuto after the main roads where you can test your bike handling and climbing skills. Finally, we end at a friendly beach house in Manzanilla.D Coconut Cove Resort , where lunch will be waiting. Navigate through approximately 50 miles of terrain which is suitable for all levels of experience.

Feel free to take a dip in the ocean or the pool, lounge on the shore, or take in the view from the shaded deck or under the trees with great company. Afterwards, optional transport will be available for riders and bikes back to the starting point.

We look forward to seeing you on this ride for a noteworthy cause.
